Welcome to Vicki MP Counselling
I have over 9yrs of experience working with children, young people, adults and couples. This includes working with a variety of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance use and addiction. I have experience working with the LGBTIQQ + community and with those experiencing bereavement, domestic abuse, sexual violence, relationships as well as many forms of trauma.
How I work
The counselling I offer is free from judgement where I strive to truly hear and understand you, free of judgment. This is non-directive approach to facilitate your direction, goals, and needs, by validating your experience and empowering you in the process. It will also enable you to reflect on your thoughts and feelings. This can then lead to you feeling more confident in making decisions that feel right for you.
My job is not to tell you what to do or how to help yourself, but to facilitate your direction.
Throughout the sessions I will reflect upon your progress, enabling you to see what you have worked through and support you to see what you may want to work toward. In effect I work as a mirror, bringing aspects of yourself into your awareness, helping you to see what you need to explore to understand yourself better.
Practically we can work together short or long term. Initially however I always contract for us to meet for 6 weeks. This gives you a good opportunity to experience the sessions and then make a decision if you’d like to extend.
I offer a free telephone consultation so please contact me for further information if you would like to book this in. I can then talk through the counselling process and answer any questions you may have.
If after speaking on the phone you decide you’d like to move things forward I offer an initial one off paid, no obligation session, so you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. There is no requirement to have a telephone call, so if you want to book an appointment you can contact me on here to discuss booking it in.
Couples Counselling
I offer couples counselling, a space where I facilitate two people hearing each other and working through their individual or shared concerns. My role as a couples counsellor is to remain neutral and provide the right environment for two people to journey together to find their own solutions and answers. This can be an intimate relationship as well as family members and friendships.
